Kenalog Side Effects - Creating a class action lawsuit

Below I have listed the Kenalog Side Effects as posted by Bristol Myers - and the FDA
Please see the rest of the blog below for information pertaining to the class action lawsuit.

Kenalog Inj Side Effects
Redness or pain at the injection site, stomach upset, headache, dizziness, menstrual period changes, trouble sleeping, or weight gain may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
Remember that your doctor has prescribed this medication because he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.
Tell your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: bone pain, easy bruising/bleeding, black stools, vomit that looks like coffee grounds, severe stomach/abdominal pain, increased thirst/urination, fast/pounding/irregular heartbeat, shortness of breath, swelling of the ankles/feet, persistent weight gain, puffy face, unusual hair growth, thinning skin, slow wound healing, signs of infection (e.g., persistent fever/cough/sore throat, painful urination, eye pain/discharge), muscle weakness/pain, mental/mood changes (e.g., mood swings, depression, agitation), vision changes, seizures, unusual skin growths.
If you have received injection of this medication into the joint, temporary discomfort of the joint may occur. Tell your doctor immediately if you have fever, increased/severe pain with swelling of the joint, weakness in the joint, or decreased range of motion in the joint.
A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of a serious allergic reaction may include: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing.

Ok -
I myself received an injection of Kenalog in my buttocks -
Well - I started noticing the following -
VERY long Menstraul Periods
Very bad headaches
Depression
Anxiety
And worst of all - NOT listed above - ATROPHY - at the site of where I had the injection on my right buttock I have a big indention about the size of a golf ball - started out as a small dimple and gotten worse and worse...
Very embarrassing - I will not be able to wear a bathing suit this summer!!!
I only weigh about 100 lbs and this is VERY noticable..

So - I have contacted an attorney and now I am in the mist of getting the work together for a class action lawsuit.

What I would like for you to do is list the following on this blog or confidentially to kenaloglawsuit@hotmail.com -

Your area of the injection, All Symptoms, why you had the shot and how long it was after the shot when you noticed the symptoms, also if you have seeked any medical evaluation due to this and what were you told

Also I will need your name and a good email address for myself or the attorney to contact you

Together we will get this drug off the market!!

Thank you for your time and interest in keeping bad drugs out of our doctors hands!!!

  1. i had the shot a year ago when i had the flu. i was told nothing about it. a few months later, i noticed a dimple in my hip. now that dimple has grown to the size of a baseball. i have extreme hip and lower back pain, as well as knee pain. my heart rate has been higher this past year, almost always above 100. my vision changed dramatically, developed a scalp condition, lost all energy, hair began falling out, and gained weight. that`s just to name a few. m. allyn box mallynbox@yahoo.com

  2. Hello,
    Check this out:

    http://www.fda.gov/MedWatch/safety/2006/Nov_PIs/Kenalog-40Inj_PI.pdf

This is directly from the FDA. They specifically address atrophy. The injection must be given DEEP intramuscularly or atrophy will occur. In the case of gluteus muscles (where you had yours) atrophy of subcutaneous fat will occur if the injection is given improperly. Since this happened to you, it sounds as if the fault lies with your doctor administering this injection to you improperly.
You may still feel like this drug should not be used. But the FDA knows of this adverse reaction and still approved the drug for use.
You might consider a lawsuit against your doctor...

  3. I had 5 kenalog injections in my back and cancelled next weeks appointment for the shot I was supposed to get in my neck. I experience extreme headaches now, never had headaches before and doc had the nerve to say that is not from the kenalog, go see a neurologist. I have pains elsewhere now in joints, and very little improvement in back. After reading for hours on the net I am convinced this drug is mighty dangerous and should NOT be used by anyone.

  4. I received a Kenalog shot for my allergies and asthma. Long story short, I was never given a package insert, informed of side effects, and was told that this excessive bleeding was unheard of. Well, that was the least of my worries. I now have a heart problem - problem with my left venticle, inverted t wave, chest pain, shortness of breath where it limits my walking, now developed a dimple in my arm at the injection shot 2 months ago....crave water like I never have, blurred vision, headaches, aches in low back, weird cramps on my lower right calf... what's next. Before April, I was an avid athlete, ran every day, ate wonderfully, no fried crap, ate whole macro nutrients, no smoke, no drink or drugs, all around healthy lifestyle until Kenalog. Since then I haven't been able to breath right. My attention span and ability to remember is rediculous. I had blood work done and am deficient in my b and d vitamin. This corticosteroid should be outlawed. At what point did I forfeit my right to make an informed decision for the greater well being of my health and MY OWN ability to make MY OWN informed decision to have this shot. All I was told was that "it's the allergy shot and your symptoms will dissipate, and you'll feel great.." That was exactly opposite, I've NEVER been worse. I am a single mom with three small children, now what!

I will be suffering from the results of these side effects for the rest of my life and I feel I deserve some cmopinsation. GOOD LUCK!!!

  10. I received this shot in June 2009 with no immediate side effects. I now have an indentation in my shoulder approximately 1" wide by 3/4" long and 1/4" deep. Since it took so long to develop, it also took me quite a while to determine the cause. Today a friend told me she thinks it is growing. Any idea when this will stop? Will it reverse?

  11. My Name is Trish I received a Kenalog Injection on March 18, 2009 for my allergies. Within 24 hours I experienced very bad panic attacks. I have been suffering from these for 6 months. As time has gone by the panic attacks have gotten better. But for the first 3 months after the injection is was around the clock 7 days a week. I have also had the blurred vision. This injection has been a very terrible thing for me. If someone had said to me this could cause crazieness I would have taken the congestion and sneezing.

Within 2 weeks I was admitted into the hospital with severe chest pain and numbness in my left arm. All of my heart tests came back negative as well as the blood work. Since I was never advised of any side effects neither before nor after the injection,I had no idea what was going on with my body.I have a family history of heart disease so I really thought that it had to be my heart. I even went back to the E.R. only to be told that I was having panic attacks.Only until I reasearched KENALOG did I figure out what was going on.I NOW HAVE CONSTANT WEAKKNESS AND NUMBNESS IN MY LEFT ARM ALL THE WAY UP TO MY HAND AND FINGERS,NOW MY BACK AND NECK HURT MORE THAN EVER AND MY MUSCLES FEEL SO WEAK.I REALLY DON'T KNOW HOW I CAN EVEN WORK LIKE THIS.I WAKE UP EVERY DAY AND I AM SCARED OUT OF MY MIND.THIS INJECTION HAS MADE MY LIFE A LIVING HELL.

  13. Let me know if anyone has a lawyer that will take this case. I had the shot in my left buttox in June of this year(10mg)and have had at least 3 upper respiratory infections, coughs that last several weeks after, pain at the site, left hip, left lower back and down my leg to my toes also accompanied by burning. I can't sit for more than a few mintues at a time in one position. Also muscle weakness on my left side even my left arm is achy at times...Not happy, was never told about any side effects...

  14. I received a steroid shot from the ear nose and throat doctor for a sinus infection in July of 2009 and sometime in August srated the notice an indention in my lower back/upper buttocks that since then has grown to be the size of a golf ball across as well. I went to my dermatologist and immedietly they asked if I had received a shot recently and told me that they do not give that shot anymore because of that affect. They also told me that they have never come across anything that is proven to help fix it, and the only suggestion they could offer was plastic surgery. The indention started out as a light pink color and now is a white crater. The ENT doctor that gave me the shot did not warn me of this side affect what so ever.

  15. I have also suffered an unfavorable response to the drug kenalog. I had a simple lipoma removal surgery on my upper right arm and i was given the shot to prevent possible keloid scarring. appx 2 months after the surgery i started noticing the indentation, and it is getting worse. it has now been six months and the indentation is about 1 x 1.5" and .25" deep. there is also discoloration of the skin. i am deeply concerned and disappointed; had i known about this possible side effect i would have risked the keloid.

  16. I had this shot a few months ago from my Rheumatologist and I also have been watching this hole in my right buttock get bigger and bigger. It's the size of a golf ball now. I never knew this was possible. I have also had pain in my right leg, depression and worsening symptoms of RA - joint pain everywhere. Has anyone ever gone after the Dr or the pharmaceutical company for this?

  17. I am in the same position. i had a shot directly into my wrist about 4 monts ago and now i have a huge scar and indention in my arm. The pain is still there and there is nothing anyone can do. I do not know if it will continue to get worse but it is horrible!!!

  18. I also have an indentation in my left buttock after a kenalog injection. Any luck on getting a class action lawsuit going? I am very upset at this and self conscious and am afraid it will get worse and lead to other problems. Has anyone's indentation gotten better with exercise or has it gotten worse? Any info would be helpful...

  19. I thought I'd post a note from a saisfied customer. I'm a 57 year old male with a psoriatic skin condition, primarily on my hands, although over the years I've had this on elbows, knees, instep, heels, buttocks, as well as some more, well, private locations. I've been receiving Kenalog injections for about 30 years, ranging from as much as every three weeks (early days) to my current 9 months to a year. Over that time the injections have always been gluteal. I have had absolutely no problem with atrophy. Lab tests, ecg's, etc. have always been normal. In fact, I can't associate any occurrence to what may be termed a "side effect." It had been suggested that I investigate some of the other psoriasis drugs as therapy; after reviewing the potential side-effects of the alternatives (discounting the costs!), I think I'll stick with Kenalog.

    1. While it's unfortunate that side effects are difficult for some, I'm with you on this one. When I got my first shot, the doctor actually told me to massage the areas I had the shots (buttocks, 40mg each cheek) and mentioned the muscle and tissue atrophy that can occur. The reason this happens is the liquid steroid can build up at the injection site when the shot's given. Massaging the area basically helps distribute the medicine as it is introduced to the body. Exercise is good, too. If you are someone who sits around a lot or has a job that doesn't require a lot of movement (office job, like me), exercise helps distribute the drug faster, also reducing the chance of atrophy.

Not everyone is the same, but I've had no problems at all since getting the shots for eczema on my hands, arms and the top of my feet. I am one of the lucky ones - I hope someone reading this will try the tips my doctor gave me.

  22. I got a kennalog shot in January of 2009. Within a month, I had lost atleast 20 pounds, my moods completely changed, I stopped being social and jut layed in bed. I also noticed the large indentation on my upper left buttocks. The indentation has now gone away but has left a scar that's purplish/brownish and very ugly. I hate it because I always get comments on it, it is very noticable. Unlike other people, my period completely stopped for the next four months, then came back full force and I bled everyday for about a month. I will never get this shot again, I am very upset with these side effect and it had absolutely no affect on my allergies.

  23. I was given a kenalog injection on my left arm in mid October of 2009 due to severe allergies and on New Year's Eve, I woke up with a huge indentation on my left arm as well as redness and tenderness at the injection site. I immediately went to my primary doctor (who had given me the injection) and she acted like she had no idea what it could be from, so she set me up for an urgent dermatoligist appt. In the mean time, my sister found information on line about the kenalog shot and its indentation side effect (I didn't even know that it was a kenalog shot that I had received!) I called my primary doctor again and confirmed that it was in fact a kenalog shot that she had given me - I was in total disbelief!! Little did I know at the time, I went to the obgyn a week after receiving the shot, as I was having irregular bleeding. I have also experienced headaches, depression and self conciousness - I will no longer wear sleeveless shirts or dresses as I'm too embarassed about how my arm looks. Had I been warned about the possible side effects of this shot, I would certainly have declined to have received it!! Is a class action lawsuit still in the works? If so, I would like to be a part of it. Please let me know. Thanks!

My arms are ruined, I have pigmentation on my arms and horrible bruising even though I have not taken kennalog in over a year. I was not told this was a side affect and my arms or ruined, I have to wear long sleeves all the time I am so embarrased plus I do not want people thinking my God is she contagious, It is horrible and I do not think it will reverse itself.

  25. My 13 year old son had the injection in his left hip/buttocks. I would have to get the medical records from his doctor (which I'm going to do) to find out the exact date. Months later, we noticed a "dimple" on his buttcheek. Over the course of a year, it has gotten progressively wider and deeper. It's large enough now that a golf ball will just about fit in the indention. It's nearly an inch deep and he is constantly complaining of the pain.

  26. I got the shot about a week ago for the second time (first was in November). I, too, have atrophy where the shot was given (left hip) (about the size of a lemon). I have also not been sleeping, have experienced mania, and severe depression. I feel quite hopeless, and don't know where to turn. The first time I got the shot, the side-effects weren't so bad and no atrophy. This time, I've been going through hell. I have uncontrolled asthma, and that's why I was given the med.

  27. I had been receiving shots for about three years (about two, three times a year for allergies) without any incident, until my last shot in August, 2009. Sometime after that, not immediate but fairly quickly afterward, I noticed an indentation in my right hip at the injection site. It didn't occur to me where it might have come from, since it just seemed like such an odd thing. But when it didn't budge I started to worry and looked up Kenalog and only THEN saw this possible side effect - no doctor or nurse ever mentioned it to me. I don't know how big it began, but it's probably large enough to sit a golf ball in now.

I hope someone is going to finally start a lawsuit, and I want in on it! I'm terrified of it getting worse and deeper with time.

  30. I went to my local walk-in clinic last night after my daily outbreak of hives was accompanied by swelling in my face. I wanted to get an Epi pen in case anything happened over the weekend, and also some prednisone which I specifically asked for. The FNP said she thought she had an injectable sterioid instead and she would give me a prescription for the rest. She came back and gave me the injection, and it was only afterwards when I asked and was told she gave me Kenalog. I had to tell her about the meds I'm on-she never asked- to make sure it wouldn't interact, and she never asked if I could be pregnant even though it says the effects on a fetus are unknown. I found this site after searching for a possible link to the weird taste I have in my mouth today. My hives never went away.I haven't had any immediate side effects, but now I'm praying I don't have any in the future and I'm pretty pissed she didn't think twice about giving me this drug. Most people with atrophy say it showed up a couple months later so I'll be watching my arm. I'm already dealing with an undiagnosed illness that has ruined my life the past seven years and I don't need any more health issues. The weird taste is almost menthol-like. It reminds me of the taste of plumping lip gloss when you get it in your mouth. Has anyone else experienced this?

  32. I was given a Kenalog shot for a bad sore throat. Dr. told me that he was going to give me an antibiotic prescription and asked if I'd also like to have a shot to help me feel better quicker. Didn't tell me the shot was Kenalog and I made the mistake of not asking what it was, just assumed it was a strong antibiotic. It's been 3 months since I had the shot and I am still having almost constant vaginal bleeding. The longest I have stopped is 3 days. I also have pain that is severe at times. It is the exact physical pain I had when I had miscarriages, I've had 3. It is in no way similar to minstrual cramps. I feel for the former poster because I am past my child bearing years, mid 40's. I know for sure this is not minstrual bleeding, it's nothing like that. I don't think I am having a cycle at all so am probably not ovulating. This blood is bright red all the time. I just realized the other day that I have not had any PMS irritability like I usuall get for a few days a month either. I don't have any problem right now at the site of the injection but do have the depression and weight gain in spite of not eating any differently. And the main thing that has really been hard is having the physical pain that I experienced when loosing my babies. It is like a constant reminder, always in the back of my mind. At this point I would like to know what percentage of people have this side effect and I would like to know what the Kenalog is doing exactly to my body. Has if messed up my hormones or is it some other physiological thing, like has it done something that makes my cervics dialate? Hince the feeling of a miscarriage? And I am very angry that the Dr. did not tell me that the shot is a steroid and am planning on calling him to let him know that he should never give this shot to a woman interested in getting pregnant, and that he should always make it clear that what he is giving is a steroid. I have already let them know and had them put in my record that I am having this reation and I also visited my gynocologist. She said she has seen women who have already gone through menopause start bleeding after steroid shots. She told me to keep a journal of when I bleed and come back in 6 months. She said if I'm still bleeding she will do a uterine biopsy and that it's a painful procedure but would need to be our next step. Not happy about that!!!!! Oh, another thing I want to ask the Dr. is how much my dose was. Just so I will know. Was I given too much and that caused this? I'm ready to do what I can to get the word out about this.

  33. I received a kenalog shot in my right gluteal muscle, about 2 cc/80 mg last year as part of a treatment for a bone infection. The MD used a 2" needle and I'm not a heavy person. He was clear about the need to make sure it went deep into the muscle and told me about why (which is what you are calling "atrophy" which is really either atrophy of fat that was injected (never got into the muscle) or in some cases above, sounds like they hit the sciatic nerve - also not proper administration). I have had no side effects of any sort that people are referring to here, although a 2" needle into the buttocks, even with bupivicaine, is no fun. But at least it worked, it has caused no problems. I'd blame the practitioner and I hate to say that, before I'd blame the drug. I'm getting another in about a week, and I have no worries, just need to find some ice...

    1. In October 2010, I was diagnosed with alopecia and referred to a dermatologist where I received a series of cortisone shots in the back on my head. Shots were given on 3 different occasions, and spaced two months apart. Prior to receiving the first shots, I asked the dermatologist if there were any side effects or risks associated with the shots and she said no – nothing to worry about.

Two weeks after receiving the third series of shots (May 2011) I started experiencing pain whenever I laid my head down on a pillow. It got so bad that I couldn’t sleep laying down. I went back to see my GP who ordered a series of blood tests that all came back normal. She also had me wear a blood pressure monitor over 48 hours and results were again normal. I went and had an eye exam done, and again, all was normal.

By June the headache still hadn’t subsided in the least, but it only hurt when I lay down. It got so bad that I went to emergency at the hospital. The ER doc ordered a CT scan and tested me for glaucoma. Both came back as normal. He referred me to a neurologist.

It took several months to get in to see the neurologist. He listened to my story and told me I had a chronic tension headache that was very difficult to treat. He prescribed an anti-depressant saying it would work on the pain centre of my brain, and he also suggested I take up Tai Chi to deal with stress long term. The only stress I’m under is the stress of trying to function with no sleep and a chronic headache. I opted not to fill the prescription for the anti-depressant.

Next I sought help from a naturopathic doc. He was the first one to admit that he believed there was a strong connection between the cortisone shots and the pain I was experiencing. He explained that the fascia had been damaged by the injections and had built up scar tissue that was causing the tissue to ’stick’ instead of ’slide’ with contact or pressure. He tried treating it with neural therapy, but after 6 sessions over 3 months, I had no relief. He then referred me to a chiropractor.

I have now had 5 active release treatments (ART) from the chiropractor and although my overall mobility in my neck and shoulders has improved, the headache has actually gotten worse, flaring up even more from the treatments. The chiropractor has also told me that he believes the headache is a result of the cortisone shots.

I think I’ve run out of options now. I’ve had a headache continuously since May 2011, cannot sleep laying down, cannot rest my head on a pillow in any position, and have no idea where to turn now for help.

I feel defeated and wish I had never sought treatment for the alopecia in the first place. At least it was only an aesthetic issue.

I sincerely hope you do not experience the same difficulties that I have.

    2. I know what you mean about the headaches. I too cannot lay my head to the pillow without them starting and no sleep. constant flushing and the cold sweats ever since 2010 and my second injection of Kenalog. Also have the weight gain no matter how little I eat and the mania. Im so depressed. have red flushing of my face and chest since 2nd injection. asked about this and was told it would go away in a few wks. has been almost 3 yrs and nothing has changed. This drug has ruined my life.

  38. I had the injections in my back side as well, the one side that has ad the most shots has a very large dimple or cavern as my husbanded noted last night. It has gotten progressively worse. So the last time I had it I thought have it in the other side because of the lack of muscle and now that side is effected as well. 40. Meaning that a physician trainer/adviser/consultant AND International training program for physicians (some are done via satellite) by every UCLA-trained physician and those trained by UCLA or those trained by these doctors and so on could adversely affect patient care not only here in the US, but globally. If this is what Dr. Rosen means by ,“The abuse of the public trust by the few will hurt the many”, this seems to be a gross understatement.
The medical community has harmed itself by allowing this to go on unregulated for so long, and by allowing ANY one source, such as a drug manufacturers, medical device manufacturers and even the FDA (also strongly influenced by money and drug company training) who we as consumers rely on to protect us, has failed miserably, putting everyone's health in jeopardy. The “monitors” (FDA, HHSA, etc.) even need consumer monitoring.
Doctors go to conferences (or view them by many methods – e.g. - Internet, TV, Satellite feeds, magazines, etc., etc.) to get their education &/or continuing education units, then bring that information back to their colleagues, to other conferences where other physicians are trained and so on - thus even a small contribution, such as this one by Eli Lilly & Co may either help patients on a massive scale, or harm them on a massive scale.
The site goes on to say, “It should be noted that there is NO restriction whatsoever about money paid by any company to any physician, just that it be revealed - nothing more!” (notice nothing about trips and perks is mentioned!)

It goes on to say drug manufacturers (Merck and Pfizer) and five largest orthopaedic device makers anticipated this and have created a voluntary lists “already tens of thousands of names long which is the same number, ironically, of UCLA Medical Alumni Association members alone! (so basically, only a ridiculously small sampling of the doctors and the money changing hands.)

Research in medical journals is often also skewed in much the same way.

Racketeering/extortion? You bet! And its done through our doctors, researchers and their trainers who if they challenge the pharma industry, their careers are over. There is FAR too much money to be made by having "plausible deniability" by skewed research and ignored valid research.

The Internet is allowing consumers of healthcare to compare notes and thankfully many avoid dangerous drugs and medical procedures. Sadly the most vulnerable populations, those who are the sick, those who seek/need medical care, fair the worst and are preyed upon by the medical industry.
It is no surprise many people are looking elsewhere for their healthcare and are better for it. I wish I had, and in the future I will as much as possible. It's no wonder medical care costs us all so much. True health care doesn't cost much at all, medical misuse, abuse & mis-training costs us $billions a year.
I find it interesting that the insert I found online for both Kenalog (& the inhaler) lists many of the symptoms I have had, and those I still have, although the pharma companies train our medical professionals to ignore the obvious and attribute these symptoms to some other ailment, which of course, according to the medical community, requires more drugs, surgeries and treatments.

It is time to get Kenalog and ALL corticosteroids FAR more restricted before they do any more harm to people. Not likely to happen - too much money to be made on the drugs that are used for the symptoms.

There are better medications for these things! If your doctor wants to do a block, ASK WHAT THEY ARE PLANNING TO GIVE YOU! If they want to give you Kenalog or any corticosteroid, say no. If he or she persist, go elsewhere and NEVER go back! Their training is faulty and unless you want possibly a life-long bunch of problems that can restrict where you live, as you will likely need to be near medical care.

These medications might also raise blood sugar levels and blood pressure - in some cases permanently. I'm not diabetic, but did borrow a friend's glucosometer and my blood glucose is higher than normal. The effects of these drugs can be long-lasting - long after these drugs (corticosteroids) are no longer detectable, and in many cases life-long.

This class of drug seems to cause more inflammation and far more long-lasting problems than it cures, and the drug companies know it. This way they can attribute the side effects to something else, then sell even more drugs to their victims for their additional symptoms. They train and manipulate the medical community that their drugs can't possibly be responsible for this many symptoms and be FDA approved.

Who tests drugs for the FDA? Those trained by the very same medical school professors who are in turn taught by their predecessors who are taught by the pharma money machine. Many “trainers” are drug reps with no medical training who take samples of drugs to doctors, “educate” them on how wonderful these drugs are, offer them trips and other perks for putting x amount of patients on any given drug, so their medical training goes by the wayside. Although this practice is illegal, it is common practice and currently unenforceable. There have been fines assessed to pharma companies who illegally market their drugs, yet the drug companies still come out ahead by billions of dollars.

In January of 2009, Eli Lilly announced it would pay a record fine of $1.4 billion to settle federal criminal charges that it illegally marketed Zyprexa. Two weeks later, Pfizer announced that it had set aside $2.3 billion to pay an expected fine over charges that it illegally marketed Bextra, a painkiller that has been taken of the market.

DHHS claims it is going after doctors next for the practice of “taking money” for prescribing drugs. What they clearly don't understand is the scope of the problem or how it plays out n the medical community. Required training conferences are often influenced or taught by those taking kickbacks, thus well-meaning doctors who aren't getting kickbacks are brainwashed into believing they are doing their patients good by using certain drugs and this is recommended to colleagues and so on.

Dr. Charles D. Rosen, an Irvine, CA orthopedic surgeon, founder and president of the “Association for Medical Ethics”, according to a NY Times, March 3, 2009, “predicted that the pending cases would tarnish the entire medical profession.” According to the article, Dr. Rosen stated, “The abuse of the public trust by the few will hurt the many.” According to his association's web site at www.ethicaldoctor.org , “Dr. Rosen testified before Congress - the only physician to do so - on behalf of the Association advocating passage of this legislation which became the law of the land in 2010”, referring to the, “2010 Physician Payment Sunshine Act and AME”, which it states doesn't take effect until 2013, and then only requires drug companies to disclose payments to physicians.

While possibly well-meaning, this doesn't seem to include distributors for these companies which are far in the majority of influence, and Dr. Rosen's statement, “The abuse of the public trust by the few will hurt the many” seems extremely myopic if he is referring to the scope of the problem.

    KENALOG IS HORRIBLE STUFF!

IF YOU ARE SCHEDULED FOR A SYMPATHETIC NERVE BLOCK, ASK THE DOCTOR EXACTLY WHAT HE OR SHE IS GOING TO GIVE YOU!

IF IT IS KENALOG OR ANY CORTICOSTEROID, THEIR TRAINING IS FAULTY & YOU SHOULD GO ELSEWHERE.

KENALOG IS LIKE STREET AMPHETAMINES OR "METH" AND HAS ABOUT THE SAME EFFECTS, AND THESE CAN BE LIFELONG!

Symptoms after both the nasal corticosteroids and the nerve blocks recently included, heart palpitations & fast heart beat, severe insomnia, talking extremely fast, very uninhibited, poor judgment, memory loss, cognitive problems, bruising, sweating, food aversion then wanting to eat everything in sight which I'd then vomit, higher blood pressure than normal, higher blood sugar than normal, venous distention with numbness and pyrexia of my arm, neck and face, feeling as through my saliva was burning my lips & facial skin down my neck, drooling, systemic profuse sweating with odor, bone pain in my hips, back, neck, legs & shoulders; increased sensitivity to stimulus (pain response) - now body-wide. Severe pain seared my hips, shoulders and legs primarily. Pain so severe, that a Toradol shot (60mg) only took the pain down for a day, then the pain returned. I had breathing difficulties (very shallow fast breathing as if I had asthma - I do not), blurred vision, itching, occasional blurred vision, aversion to sunlight and widespread aversion to touch and even water and skin thinning, itching and texture changes.

    I have experienced:

  51. In a 7 month period, I had 2 shots of Kenalog given to me for severe allergies.
I am a mess! My daughter was getting married and my face got huge.....my husband said I looked "severe" - that's how swollen I was. My bones seem to hurt, especially the hips, and I know I have a substantial weight gain. My skin got so thin for a while, that just touching it, would leave a long purple/red line. My arms look the worst. I have bruises all over my body. They come and they go. I don't have the hole in my butte that many of you talk about.
My mind is "not me" lately. I feel weird, and out of sorts. I used to love to exercise, but lately I feel dizzy, and don't feel like getting up from a chair and I feel weak. I always thought these symptoms would go away.....but when? I got the second shot in June, just before my daughter's wedding shower. I felt people staring at me because of my swollen face. I am going back to the allergy doc. that gave me these 2 shots (without telling me of any side affects) this coming week, and believe me, he will get an ear full. If anyone wants to sue this Kenalog company, include me in.

  54. Did any of you have breathing problems after the steroid shot? I had a very servere reaction to the shot, but I also had a very hard time breathing. Someone wrote on a different blog that the people complaining about the Kenolog shot have too much time on their hands to think about their symptoms. When I got the shot I was crazy busy. I have two children and am very involved. I ran four miles every day and then I would lift weights for an hour. I considered myself very healthy. Three days after the kenolog shot I I felt tingling in my feet and hands and my whole body when weak. I had a difficult time breathing and was miserable for 3 months. Then I got the flu and it caused the symptoms to get worse, I did not think that was possible. I had acid reflux, irritable bowel syndrome, an indention in my buttox, constant nausea, anxiety, depression, a pain in my left side, and the list goes on and on. So, was all this in my head because I had too much time to think about it? That is full of crap what that person wrote. I was a happy, energetic, active woman. Getting the kenolog shot changed my life. I am doing much better a year later, but I deal with motion sickness now due to the illness. Please let us know how the lawsuit goes. I would love to know how I can get involved. Please let me know if any of you had trouble breathing due to the kenolog shot.

  55. I had several kenalog shots due to RA and was not warned about atrophy. I have a massive chunk missing from my right butt cheek and a big dent in my left. The nurse was not concerned when I rang her and told her about it. I have been so devastated.I have got weakness and numbness in the right side of my butt and all down my leg. It can be seen clearly if I wear jeans or tight clothing, cant hardly wear any of my clothes and am restricted to wearing baggy loose clothing to hide it. Its like a massive hole in the skin and is so disgusting and ugly. It looks deformed and abnormal. It has ruined my confidence. It is all about money and greed by the drug companies. The doctors and nurses think they are helping us by giving this drug and all they are doing is making are lives a whole more difficult. They believe that drugs are the answer but drugs dont cure anything. Drugs only hide the problem while the disease or complaint progresses. Doctors are totally in the dark about all this. I have learnt the hard way and in some ways I blame myself for not doing my own research before trusting the nurse. Its a hard lesson to learn.

If we did,nt have nhs what would you do if we had no drugs what would you do you people make me laugh moaning & groaning about the nhs . looking for any excuse to sue somebody , maybe you will refuse medication one day & die, would you chance that,I have been to many 3rd world countries & seen real poverty where people who struggle severly to make ends meet & get into severe debt to pay for medical treatment. stop wingeing & wineing get on with your life. I have had five of these injections about 15 years ago over a 3 0r 4 year period for allergic rhinnitis , for all these years my allergies have gone but now returned.I asked my doctor for a kenalog injection he said we don,t do them anymore I was devastated. 1. Hey Tim, get off your high horse for a moment . Perhaps your butt isn't dented like mine is in 4 places, so deep that it looks like a shark had a good time taking chunks out of my flesh, disfiguring me.I am a nurse, have never sued anyone in my entire life, even though there was a couple of occasions that I could have. I am a Christian, and I would never unfairly make a claim that wasn't a BIG DEAL! This IS a big deal make no mistake, and maybe you were just one of the lucky ones. Don't underestimate the damage that tons of people like myself have incurred. Not EVERYONE is as lucky as you, and maybe you never had a shot in your butt!Believe me it is hideous, and it causes embatrassment and has hurt many people even myself emotionally. I WILL find an attorney who can nail the responsible party for disfiguring me.If anyone out there has found a serious attorney dealing with this lawsuit please contact me at luvsusieq@yahoo.com.

  65. I am 33 years old and very healthy prior to this drug with the exception of my back pain. I had 80mg of kenalog injected into my L5-S1 spine in October 2010 for pain related to a disc herniation. Two weeks after the injection I began experiencing headaches, worse back pain, and low energy. But the most bothersome side effect is the menstrual changes and to this day I am still experiencing massive menstrual problems. Excessive bleeding lasing longer than 10 days and as frequently as 2 weeks apart, extremely painful abdominal cramps, black blood, clots and now anemia. Before this injection, my normal menstrual cycle was only 3-4 days long, regular and very little menstrual abdominal discomfort. Ive seen my gynecologist who prescribed 2 months of birth control pills to see if this might regulate my menstrual cycle again. The 2 months are now over, and still the same problems continue. I have an appointment to see her again to figure out the next step to alleviate this very annoying issue. The worst part of all this is the fact that my "baby plans" are now on hold due to this drug side effect that was never once disclosed by my doctor and no information was ever given to me regarding the drug of choice to be used during my injection procedure. Had I known this beforehand, I would have never done this. Little did I know that doing this would not allow me to continue to bare a child as planned. I would have continued on with regular tylenol/ibuprofen to treat my back pain. Please feel free to contact me if needed. This crap really does need to be off the market.

  68. Have had 3-4 kenalog injections over the years, usually every spring for severe allergies. Noticed a discolored bruise/mark on my right buttocks this morning. When I touched it, it kept going deeper and deeper. Felt the other side, and the muscle was normal. Didn't connect it with kenalog until I started researching on the web. I started to connect the dots on the sharp pain in my right hip when walking and the panic attacks which started in the past year (never been anything but perfectly health until this). This site has been comforting to read, but also extremely unnerving. Everyone is talking about the problem, but no one is mentioning possible solutions. Would like to join a class action lawsuit.

  71. I have had several kenalog shots over the years and I too had the "indention". However, I learned I would get these indentions only when the nurse did not inject deeply into the muscle. In any case, the indention DOES go away after a couple of months. As for everyone else saying this one shot ruined their health--this injection only lasts up to 3 weeks. Thats it. (The indention might last a little longer, but really--its not that big of a deal.)
Oh, and another little fact for you all--many celebrities get a big old shot of this stuff right before a big event. Kenalog is known for zapping away any and all blemishes, dandruff and skin rashes for up to three weeks. It's kind of a miracle shot.

  72. Hello everybody,
I was very sick in Mar of 2010. I was given kenolog 100 in my buttock. It has now been a year and the area in which I was given my shot is huge. I now have an indentation approx 2 inches by 1 inch. This area is also very red. The area is next to my tail bone and sometime causes me pain when I sit. OMG I can never wear a bathing suit again. What can I do to help somebody else out? Has anybody got this area fixed, if so how?

  73. This past week I received a kenalog shot in both knees. I am a diabetic and they told me to watch my blood sugars. The dr. said there is a chance it would go up. Within 3 1/2 hours my blood sugar level went from 125 to over 600. The emergency room staff is guessing over 600 since our meters only go to 586 or so. I had a yogurt at 10:30 am. And nothing till nearly midnight after I got home from the emergency care. They flushed my system with 3600 ml of saline. The next day, I went in to receive another 1200 ml of saline to flush my system, and I walked in with a flaming red rash/welt all over my face and neck. Looked like I had a 2nd degree sunburn. The temperature on my face was 102 degrees, but my upper forehead was 97.1. The dr. said it isn't an allergic reaction, it's a side effect. The sugar jump was unheard of and he probably wouldn't have believe it, had he not seen it. My white blood cell count went from 13 to 17 over night. He said my body was trying to fight the shots off. Trying to push what it perceived as toxins to the skins service so i could sweat it out, and/or urinate it out. Dr. Said that luckily, no ketoacidosis, and that I avoided severe dehyrdration from the high sugar levels. My sugars this morning were 108 fasting. Not the best, but better then the 338 I woke up with the following morning after I got the shots.

I feel for anyone who has a really bad, life threatening reaction to these shots. On the up side, my knees do feel a LITTLE better. But totally not worth the havoc it wrecked on my life.

The best to all of you.

  74. My 6 1/2 year old son had gotten the Kenalog shot at the er in early October of 2010 for poison ivy. About 3 weeks later, he gained alittle weight and developed a severe "moon face" (swollen, puffy, round face). His dr referred him to an Endo specialist who performed many blood work and urine tests, and a MRI, all tests are coming back normal. It is now April 2011 and his face is just starting to look better. His endo dr thinks it all came about from the kenalog shot. We are hoping that time will heal this problem. WARNING: DO NOT HAVE A CHILD BE GIVEN THIS SHOT. (I did not know what type of steriod injection my son was receiving back then.)
I am thinking about consulting a lawyer. My son has been thur enough!

  78. I received this injection in January 2011 to give my immune system a rest (I have Mixed Connective Tissue Disease). I was told the side effects were mild weight gain.
I had lots of side effects..including anxiety, depression, horrible mood swings, pain in injection site and pain in my hip and leg. Three weeks ago I noticed the dimple in the butt cheek, now the dimple is a crater.
Especially when I bend over, its vey deep.
I am a model...this is not good for my career. I usually wear bikinis and lingerie. It's a bit embarrassing at the moment to wear anything that shows my butt.
I did get some info from an RN, she said that this happens when you are not given the shot properly. It needs to be deep in the muscle so this atrophy does not occur.

So I emailed my doctor who injected me, he was wonderful..he called me right away and said to come in to the office at no charge..he wants to look at it. He is willing to send me to a plastic surgeon and pay to fix it if it does not fix itself and is interfering with my career.
He said it happens to 1% of people who get the injection.

I do NOT recommend this drug to any woman.

My husband had this shot 3x with no horrible side effects thankfully.
I wish I was that lucky.

They need to get rid of this drug!!

If you are having this problem call or email the doctor..I hope that they take responsibility like my doctor has.

  85. So, I join the ranks of those disfigured by Kenalog. I received a shot 5 months ago, and woke up three days ago to a large indentation in my buttock. Research on the Internet led to the possibility of Kenalog as the culprit. A visit to my doctor confirmed that was the site of the injection, although he has never seen it happen before. What do I do next? Plastic surgeon? Lawyer? One little shot for allergies and now I'm facing possible surgery? How can this stuff still be on the market? If ANYONE has a lawyer willing to take this on, please post his/her name on this board and maybe we can get a class action suit going...

  86. Hello, I too had the shots in my back on several occasions. I got skeptical after I ended up in severe pain after the first two shots I got in my upper back. I complained to my doctor about the shots and told him that I did not want anymore of the Kenalog shots. He assured me that there were no side effects. Instead of listening to my gut feeling, I let him talk me into getting the shot in my low back. I subsequently received two shots in my low back. Two to three months later, I started noticing an indentation in my left low back above my buttocks. I thought it was due to the recent weight gain (which I now know was due to the cortisone). Besides weight gain, severe mood swings, depression, anxiety, etc., my dimple (the fat atrophy above my buttocks) became so severe that I looked disfigured and I almost had a mental break between the physical, mental, and emotional roller coaster I felt like I was on. I could not touch the dimple because it would result in severe pain. I saw several doctors, one being a plastic surgeon. Some people say it is permanent. Some say it is not. However, it has been a year and two months since I received Kenalog in my lower back and the dimple has gotten smaller. It did not go away completely, but I have hope that it will (eventually). The pain has subsided, but not completely. I still get an aching feeling that increases and decreases in the area and there is still sensitivity.

To talk about cures...I don't know if there is one. I have heard about the saline, but am still to research it further. The breaking point with me was when I noticed the severity of the dimples (about 6 months into it). I was also stressed about my weight gain because I have always been physically fit and did not gain weight after two children (until when my last daughter was 6 months old, immediately after the shots). I looked up fasting because I was willing to do anything to get my mind mentally straight and I did not want to stress over what I thought was a disfigurement anymore. That is when I fasted (only for 3 days on two different occasions). It may have been a coincidence, but an immediate difference in the appearance. I am not a medical practitioner and in no way do I advise fasting because it is not right for everyone. But look it up and see what you think. Apparently, fasting cleanses your body and removes toxins. I think it helped me, but maybe it was just time that helped. Do your research with everything first!!! That is all I can suggest. My doctors now want me to get steroids through spinal injections and assure me that there are no side effects. I will never put that stuff in my body again.

  87. Has anyone obtained an attorney to file a law suit? I tried to e-mail kenaloglawsuit@hotmail.com and received a failure mailbox unavailable notice. I am already disabled and have degeneration of the spine. I received three Kenalog shots in my spine and it looks like a shark took a bite out of my back. There is definite muscle degeneration and atrophy. I don't understand why they would give me something that would make me worse, not better. I finally have convinced them to give me trigger point injections without the steroid. The steroids always inflamed my Chronic Myofascial Pain anyways. It never helped it. Hopefully, they will actually hit a trigger point instead of just giving me random injections. I can't really complain or file a law suit because then no other pain clinic in the city would take me. I have been suffering from Chronic pain for years now. I know how hard it is to find a doctor and even when you do, they know nothing about Chronic Myofascial Pain they just try to treat you for Fibromyalgia, which I have, but is the least of my problems. Let me know if anyone has filed a class law suit because I would definitely join. Especially if it was against the manufacturer instead of my physician. Thank God we have the FDA (sarcasm)

  92. I am a 32 year old female and have always had pretty decent skin. However this year I started getting acne so I went to the dermatologist who prescribed me some antibiotics. I usually don't take them but my skin was getting worse and worse and it was very distressing. I had an allergic reaction to the pills, went back to the derm and the nurse gave me a kenalog shot as I was covered in hives etc. I asked if there were any side effects, she said no. 4 months later, I have a massive dent in my upper arm. The derm said it would definitely fill in but I'm not so sure.

I also stupidly had kenalog shot into two cysts on my lower face that wouldn't go away. Th derm PROMISED it wouldn't indent, I was scared to do it but he persuaded me. My face now is indented on both sides and the skin has started to sag....I have aged about 10 years in 6 weeks. Hopefully this is going to grow back....It's annoying because I am always very wary of antibiotics, steroids etc....I wish I tried to cure my acne the natural way...this has turned into a nightmare.

Dermatologists and doctors should carefully explain the very serious side effects of kenalog before they so freely shoot it into your body, this is crazy!

By the next day I hd severe overall muscle pain and pain in every joint from my knees to my fingers. The worst pain was in my face. My jaw started to hurt and my parotid glands swelled up. I ended up in the ER because my jaw pain was so intense I was hysterical. I became extremely angry and aggresive and irritable as well. I would NEVER reccomend kenelog to anyone. Big chunk in my back after one injection, constant pain, atrophy, and now I am being black balled by every Physician in my town. No one will see me to help me with this nightmare! I have even been rejected by a teaching hospital at a major university!! I feel that I am getting close to the forbidden area of "Medical Malpractice"! What do I have to lose? No Doctor will see me now. I suspect they won't see me later! The sad part is, if the first physician had only read my medication list, he would have KNOWN not to give me this injection!!! I feel so horrified to know that I could have easily suffered so much more than I am. There is NO excuse for such stupidity!!!

  98. I had approximately 10 Kenalog injections from August 2010 - February 2011 in a keloid scar that formed as a result of a Cesarean section in November 2007. My ob/gyn said that Kenalog will flatten the keloid scar. I started to notice in the Spring of 2011 that the scar area, above and below the scar, was flat and tissue-less; it looks like a huge valley between my belly fat and pubic area. I showed this to my general practioner and was surprised to hear him say that the surrounding area had "atrophied." I have a consult Friday with a plastic surgeon for reconstruction of this area but I'm also concerned that the lumpy masses under it are scar tissue which may also be a bad side-effect of the Kenalog. I have also been feeling pain, twinges, and pulling under the scar and atrophied area.

  99. 4 Kenalog spine injections (total 5 mls) over the last month. After first injection, tingling down arms, legs, and in hands and feet. Spine docs misdiagnosed this as further evidence of radiculopathy caused by bulging discs, requiring further injections. With each injection, the tingling got worse and has become disabling. I didn't realize until the final injection that what I was experiencing was a severe side effect, not symptoms of nerve impingement. Spine docs apparently had never seen any adverse reaction other than mild facial flushing (what a crock!) For anyone else who has experienced the tingling, did you ever find any helpful treatment, or explanation for the symptom. And, how long did it take to subside, if it did. I wish I had done more advance research (drugs.com lists tingling in hands/feet as a severe side effect).

  100. I had an injection of Kenalog in my hip for bursitis. Kenalog is the one steroid that does not make me as sick as others I have tried for cervical issues. I now have a large dent in my hip that is noticeable through my pants, so you can imagine how I look in a swim suit, etc. My doctor was surprised at the dent also, and commented on how swollen my hip looks now compared to before. The area is sore and it looks like a deformity now. I hope that there is something to reverse this dent, or that I might grow out of it? Problem is, I just got a cervical epidural with 80 mgs of kenalog and have some weird things going on, different than before, like severe muscle cramps and bad smells. I hope I don't get a dent in my upper back...

I first noticed it Nov 2011 as a quarter sized shiney white area with a small dimple at the site...and the rest is history. I have had issues with unexplained weight gain over the last 6 mos or so, severe joint pain...my right elbow so bad can't even lift a large drink without a lot of pain, headaches. I have watched this thing get larger and larger...it's unsightly and embarrassing to say the least. 104. I don't know if this is still going on, but I got a kenalog shot in September for a swollen cheek from a bee sting. I developed atrophy around the injection area, along with a fat purple scar mark running through the middle. None of my doctors knew what it was. I went to at least 15 different doctors before I connected it with the shot. I am now attempting to sue my doctor for medical malpractice. It is her fault for not injecting it deep enough. I'm 16 years old. And now this thing is going to be on my back for about 5 years. Maybe more. And I have to suffer for it, even though it wasn't my fault and I didn't deserve it. I want to inject the doctor who invented kenalog with his own shot and have hm get atrophy and these horrible side effects and see how he likes it. It has been the cause of my stress and pain since then.

  106. Wow I have had this kenalog injection many times. I also have had cortisone injections. I was much better off not getting them. I had them injected into my spine. I was kinda able to work before these injections i mean yea I have a few herniated disc but was mobile. Now eevry fiber of my body is in pain they have put me on neurotin for the numbness and tingeling in my arms and hands and feet and leggs. My leggs feel like there about to give out on me.

I made it real clear to my pain management doctor that I was type 2 diabetic and he assured me that it was safe that he was useing a low dose on me. Well let me tell you most people burn thru it in two three days and there sugar numbers come down to close to normal. Mine however with each injection gotr worst. I was only on one medication for diabetes when first starting these injections. The second or third injection I was forced to go on a lantus (insulin) and then without any luck I went on amaryl for diabetes and then my next injection I was put on novolog injections three times a day for diabetes. This all within a years time.

Since going on these injections I have added 12 new drugs to my symptoms from anexity to depression to bipolar and high blood pressure and neuopathy and parathesaias. I could walk 10 miles a day before starting kenalog and cortisone injections now walking 50 yards is a task and Im 40 years old. My weight before these injections was 156 lbs I am now at 200 lbs.

I also have been diagnosised with high eye pressure with no explaniation I also take two glaucoma meds for this and I supposely dont even have glaucoma. I am ready for a lawsuit I may go ahead and file mine cause I dont see any real action going on here. It looks like he might have to go after each of our doctors for this stuff. I have read about similar symptoms as mine having had kenalog(injected into buttocks)resulting in avacular necrosis.

The research pointed the cause to Kenalog.
Does anyone know a UK lawyer who specialises in this field

  111. This is a "light bulb" moment for me! I am a 43-year-old man that received 10mg shots of Kenalog in the buttocks twice a year for the treatment of severe allergies. I received shots from 1998 through 2005. The shots work very well against allergies... At what cost I ask myself as I write this. I have developed some severe medical conditions that I had attributed to age, lack of exercise, diet, and bad luck. Then I read the side effects of Kenalog this evening and then found this site and read the posts. Now I feel sick because I was a booster for the shot to everyone I met with allergies. It worked so well and provided such relief; I did not know how deadly the stuff is!! My health has deteriorated right on cue with my usage. I might be much worse off if I had kept getting the shots. Anyway, the doctor never provided any information other than saying that he could not give more than 1 shot every six months. I have the following medical issues (related or not, you decide):

    Blurred vision
    Elevated blood sugar (near diabetic)
    Elevated triglyceride levels
Pancreatitis - hospitalized (triglyceride level 3000+ when admitted)
    Insulin resistance
    Weight gain
    Metabolic disorder
    Hyperthyroidism
    Whole body dandruff
Scaly blotches on my face frequently
Mysteriously lost my voice (90%) for 6 months (like my throat was swollen shut)
    Lethargy
    Apathy
Horrible coughing (like trying to clear throat obstruction) for almost a year

I do not drink or smoke.

I had none of these conditions before 1998 and I developed them all between 1998 and 2005. I feel fortunate that I did not have the wasting affect that so many of you all have experienced... Well fortunate is not the right word I guess.

I will inform my current doctor of this revelation and get her reaction. In the mean time if there is anything I can do to help, my email is ospeng05@yahoo.com

Best of luck to us all!

I am now 55 years old, when I was 9 years old they started injections of Kenalog IM monthly until I was 18 - The list of problems I have had is huge I cannot tell you how many problems this has caused in my life. This is not something to be administered to a child. Parents please do not let this be used on your child.

  115. I had received this injection and noticed a spot appear on my right rear. I went to the local Urgent Care which works with my own family dr, and they informed me that it was Ring Worm, I knew it wasn't but took the lotion and applied it as told, nothing improved. It is now about 1 and a half yrs later and the hole is larger and painful. I am very ashamed and have lost weight, became depressed, and called several dermatologists, without any help, or any true explanation of what it is or why it has happened. One did say they had heard of it before, but most insurances won't cover treatment for it as it is cosmetic, and the insurance will cover the office call though.. I am very upset!!! I am only 30 and feel like I have had my life taken from me, because this hole is so big and visible I can't wear a bathing suit. I don't even want mt husband to see me in the light. It's shameful. I need help. Please feel free to contact me at sportsparents@yahoo.com I will appreciate any and all help at this point as I feel something has to be done.

I am going to a gastroenterologist because I can't eat, digest food properly, am depressed and have sweats & vivid dreams. Had an abdominal ultrasound, no gallbladder disease found. It seems to have come on after the shot, which I got with PUVA light therapy for my palms with severe excema/atopic dermatitis. Is a class action suit in process? How long do symptoms take to subside?

  122. I received a kenalog injection to my right buttocks in November 2010. The area stayed bruised for a while and then started indenting. It has gotten deeper and it is very ugly. I too am very conscious about it. I showed the nurse practioner that I see and she said there were a few patients with the same complaint and problem, including her own daughter. She said she sent other patients to the dermatologist and that they said it would just take time to go away. I'm going on a year and a half and it's not improving.

I was never told any side effects at all and am very upset. Why in the world would these doctors be giving this with all the side effects. Can anyone help with this? It looks awful!!! 132. I received a Kelalog shot in my left buttocks January 2012. I noticed a dry patch by February, by end of March I had a dimple and purplish discoloration. It is now larger if you took a tennis ball and cut a third off of it that would be the diameter and depth of it. My husband said it looks like a shark took a bite out of my butt! I showed the PA in April and again a couple weeks ago since it had gotten worse, the PA called the MD in to look at it and they were shocked! Said it was the most severe case they had ever seen! I have read to wait 6 months before pursuing treatment because it could resolve on its own? Well it has been 6 months and if anything it is worse! Nurse1239@aol.com

I'm only 28, and otherwise feel confident in my body- but now I've got this huge purplish hole in my butt cheek. It's terrible. I also experienced depression, loss of appetite, heavy menstration and mood swings.
I don't know who can be held accountable if anyone (the doctor never told me the side effects- and also wouldn't even give me the time of day or my medical records for that matter!).

I have daily hip, glute, pelvic and thigh pain 24/7. It never stops. In fact it's getting worse. It's moved further down my thigh. I got online and googled indention in rear and the name Kenalog came up, so I called my doctor and sure enough...the injection I received was Kenalog....I went online checking out the drug..clicked on it and saw that it does horrible things to you and most people who get it have indentions just like mine. Well, it's been over a year now and it gets worse and worse and I'm losing muscle in that leg. Has anyone tried to call 1-800-BAD-DRUG??? This drug needs to be taken off the market and WE ALL NEED TO BE REIMBURSED FOR OUR PAIN AND SUFFERING AND MENTAL ANGUISH..I've worried myself to death about this pain and muscle loss. 142. In August 2012, I visited a dermatologist to have some suspicious looking cells on my nose evaluated. I also had recently noticed what looked like the start of a mole on the left cheek of my face and wanted that evaluated as well. I saw a nurse practitioner who suggested giving me a steroid injection for what I thought was a mole and she thought was either a pimple or an acne cyst. I told her I am not into taking drugs and especially steroids into my body and that if this was just a pimple, it would eventually go away on its own. She told me that the steroid injection would just be a very minute dose and it would be localized to the cyst. I continued to hesitate and she continued to push for it. I stupidly relented and took the shot. The cyst did go away but about five weeks after receiving the injection, I noticed a "dent" about the size of the tip of my index finger in my left cheek where I had received the injection. I went back to the determatology clinic and asked to see a doctor this time. I was escorted into the exam room by an assistant and she asked me why I was there. I told her I received a steroid injection and now I have a divot in my cheek on my face. I asked her if she could tell me exactly which steroid I was injected with. She said Kenalog. I asked her if she knew if other patients had had problems with Kenalog injections and she said yes. I asked what can be done about this and she said I would need to talk to the doctor. She left me in the exam room and while waiting for the doctor, I did some quick Internet searching on my phone about Kenalog. I found this website and many others talking about the problems with injection site atrophy along with a host of other problems. When the doctor came in, she examined my face and said the best thing I could do was to get collagen injections periodically to puff up my cheek to match the other side of my face. This would be on-going treatment as collegen is reabsorbed by the body over time. She I could also consider plastic surgery. I told her my first concern was whether this atrophy was going to continue to get worse and whether it just impacts soft tissue or bone as well. She said just soft tissue and there was no danger of bone deterioration. I told her that I was very upset that the nurse practitioner pressured me to get this shot but did not take the time to tell me the possible side effects. With this, she said she would get the head doctor to look at my face. The head doctor came in and told me she had seen this before and that it will resolve itself in 7-9 months. She said I could get a saline or collagen injection to puff the area back up until my body built the tissue back up. She told me that the Kenalog temporarily shuts down the body's ability to synthesize collagen but after time, the body would build the tissue back up. I told both doctors that their assistant who brought me to the exam room said that other patients had problems with Kenalog and that I was very upset that given that knowledge, they didn't warn me of the side effects. I told them I searched the Internet while I waiting and didn't find any examples of where people said the atrophy resolved itself and that it seemed permanent. She said that wasn't true. I told them that if that was true I didn't want any injections of anything and if they thought it would resolve itself then I would keep an eye on my face and let nature take its course. The head doctor said they would not charge me for today's visit and that I should make an appointment to come back in 2 months, at no charge, to get the area checked out again. I told them that I would be contacting them before the next appointment if anything changed for the worse or better. I came home and took photos of my face for documentation. Believe me, if there is active pursuit of a class action law suit, count me in. I only received a very tiny dosage of Kenalog and now my face is on it's way to becoming disfigured - all for a pimple.

After the whiteness it turned scabby-like and itchy. Then not long after came the super extreme pain in my injection site area and Hip . I cant sleep the pain is soo horribly bad to even turn over either side cause my right hip is in such severe pain. Its causing stress in my marriage because it hurts my bones to have sex. The pain is so deep im afraid i might break. The skin is so thin and my dimple is so huge that if i cut the skin it would just expose BONE. Now, it is 2 years later - I still have numbness in my fingers, my eye pressure is still elevated - borderline glaucoma, and I have horrific anxiety that dosesn't stop. Any medication to help the anxiety, makes me more anxious. I am so miserable. Does anyone know how long this poison lasts in your body? How do we remedy this? I'm having a difficult time choosing between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your design seems different then most blogs and I'm
    looking for something unique. P.

Can somebody else please comment and let me know if this is happening to them too? This may be a issue with my browser because I've had this happen

  187. With havin so much content do you ever run into any problems of plagorism or
copyright infringement? My site has a lot of exclusive content I've either authored myself or outsourced but it looks like a lot of it is popping it up all over the internet without my authorization. Do you know any techniques to help stop content from being ripped off? I'd really appreciate it.
